Romain Ryder

Romain Ryder, 83, of Froid died March 6, 2019.

He was born in his Grandma Ryder’s house Dec. 30, 1935, to Herbert and Birgit Ryder.
From a very early age, he showed a deep passion for farming, which led him to pursue his long-life dream. With the support of his wife and five children, he successfully established Ryder Farms.
He graduated from Froid High School in 1954 and attended college in Havre. He moved back to Froid, where he married his lifelong love and dancing partner, Yvonne Tyler, Jan. 30, 1955. Together, they built a family and precious memories. Their children Arthur, Robin, Jeffrey, Diana and Patrick were their pride and joy.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with family and friends. Some of his fondest memories were fishing at Jan Lake in Canada. He also spent a few winters in Palm Springs playing golf and enjoying the California sun with Yvonne.
Along with being a successful farmer, he also served on the Agri Insurance board and Farm Credit board of directors. Later, he and his sons raised cattle at his feedlot west of Froid.
He was the No. 1 fan of this 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, attending various sporting events and rarely missing a game. He was a generous, intelligent, hardworking individual who held the hearts of his family near and dear.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Ryder; sons, Arthur, Rob and Pat; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margie; son, Jeffrey; and daughter, Diana.
Private family services were conducted in Froid where Ryder was interred.
