Olson Approved As County Fire Warden

The Roosevelt County Commissioners held their regular public meeting Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the commissioners’ office in Wolf Point. Commissioners Gary Macdonald, Duane Nygaard and Gordon Oelkers were in attendance.
Culbertson’s Mike Olson was unanimously approved as county fire warden.
After 14 years in the position, Steve Harada of Wolf Point has resigned. The commissioners thanked Harada for his service.
Cam Friede of Froid was approved as assistant fire warden.
The commissioners approved the resignation of Corey Reum from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a letter from Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick filed with the Roosevelt County Clerk and Recorder, Reum verbally resigned effective Jan. 30. No reason was given.
Froid’s Dana Salivar was approved for the Roosevelt County Fair board.
Oelkers told those assembled at the meeting that they would like to see members of the community from the west side of the county apply to serve in future fair board roles.
Oelkers said, “We’d like to encourage the whole county to participate.”
At a special administrative meeting on Jan. 28, the commissioners approved new hire Rhonda Mason for a “home visit” position with the Roosevelt County Health Department.
New hire Tyler Sterling was approved as a jailer with the Roosevelt County Detention Center at a special administrative meeting on Jan. 29.
Claims for January were approved in the amount of $96,412.88.
